The amazing and hilarious improv television show ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?‘ is back and it does not disappoint. No matter how stressed or grumpy you may be after a long day, its overall silliness is sure to make you laugh – you won’t be able to help yourself.
The show originally aired in the late 80′s, in the UK, and has gone through a few iterations since. Most notably, the 8 seasons with Drew Carrey as host in the US, beginning in the late 90′s.
The new series still has the incredible trio from the Drew Carrey days: Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and Wayne Brady. They have always included a 4th guest who changes every show to spice things up. This season they have introduced an additional special guest star, who may not be experienced with improv, to join a few skits throughout the show; it has made for some wonderfully awkward moments.
They have also introduced a skit called ‘Sideways Scene’. The camera is overhead and the improv group acts out scene ideas while lying on the floor. Wayne Brady moves so well it almost seems as though he is upright!
Drew Carrey has been replaced with Aisha Tyler as host. I wasn’t sure what to expect, I loved Drew Carrey, but I am really impressed with her. She is funny, enthusiastic, and involved. Perhaps one day she will join the team in a few skits here and there, as Drew Carrey did in the past.
It airs Tuesdays on the CW and is completely worth watching.
